Supervision
Provided by the Department
The department
has a strong interest in providing clinical supervision to staff from
within the
department and, where resources allow, to other staff and staff groups
requesting supervision
from us.
What Supervisor?
Clinical Supervisors within the department come from a variety of clinical
backgrounds with a
range of training experiences and include Clinical Psychologists; Counsellors;
Cognitive-
Behavioural Therapists;Art therapists; Cognitive Analytic Therapists.
What Model?
Supervisors offer supervision across a range of models including Psychodynamic/Psycho-
therapy; Cognitive-behavioural therapy;
counselling; person-centred/humanistic; integrative/
eclectic; social constructionist/normative; group analytic; Gestalt;
Feminist; Systemic.
Supervision of an area
of Specialist Interest?
Supervisors also offer supervision of areas of specialist interest e.g.
Eating Distress;
working with voices; alternatives to psychiatry; risk/risk taking;
trauma work; supervision of
supervision.
What Format?
Supervisors may offer individual, paired or group supervision. Depending
on need,
supervision sessions may occur weekly; fortnightly; monthly or on an
ad hoc basis.
Past and Current Supervision
Arrangements to Colleagues outside the department include:
Supervision of Macmillan Nurses; Balint Groups offering supervision
to G.Ps in Shropshire;
Supervision of Clinical Risk Managers at the Princess Royal and Royal
Shrewsbury
Hospitals; Shelton Hospital Staff; group supervision to Substance Misuse
