Student
placements and learning experiences within the Department
The department welcomes students and trainees, although the confidential
nature of our work does not often lend itself to observers. Consequently
priority is given to those already undergoing professional training
in health care and related areas. Typically, we accommodate trainees
in counselling, cognitive behaviour therapy, clinical psychology,
mental health nursing, art therapy, occupational therapy and junior
doctors. We cannot provide supervision for counselling psychology
trainees.
We receive many requests for short term placements from undergraduates
and school or college students, but we are not in a position to respond.
At this stage it is important to gain experience of the client group
through volunteering or unskilled jobs.
