Staff Counselling Service
Available to all employees of the Shropshire County Primary Trust, the Princess Royal Hospital and Telford and Wrekin Primary Care Trust .

The Staff Counselling Service is based at Chaddeslode House in the Psychological Therapies Department. It is co-ordinated by Margaret Newton, the Counselling Services Manager and administered by Liz Jones, the Psychology Administrator.
At the present time the counselling is offered by 5 part time funded staff counsellors and 7 volunteer counsellors who give time either in the course of their working day or free if they are independent of the Trust. In addition there are 4 volunteers who offer their time for supervision of the counsellors.
Historically the Service was set up by Craig Newnes, Director of Psychological Therapies Service and consisted of volunteers from different backgrounds providing counselling. In mid 1999 the Service had to be closed because of lack of volunteers. Funding was then gained for 15 hours of counselling and by January 2000 the Trust was able to employ 3 part-time staff counsellors.
The paid staff counsellors now are Pauline Curran, Liz Cartwright, Diana Pringle and Michelle Gaspar.
Pauline has a Central School of Counselling and therapy diploma in counselling. She works for 5 hours a week offering counselling on a Tuesday and Friday in Shrewsbury and Telford.
Liz originally worked as a Psychiatric Nurse (RMN). She has trained with Confide, completing a Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling. She offers 3.5 hours per week mainly for Staff and Students of the Staffordshire College of Health.
Diana is also employed by the Department as a Primary Care Counsellor. She has a Relate, National Marriage Guidance Certificate in Couples Counselling and is a Certified Transactional Analyst (Clinical). She works for 2.5 hours a week and offers appointments in Shrewsbury and Telford.
Michelle Gaspar trained at University College, Chester and has an Advanced Diploma in Person Centred Counselling. Also works in General Practice and at Chaddeslode House. She works 2.5 hours per week offering appointments in Shrewsbury.
