Worker
Saroj is employed full-time by the department as
a GP Counsellor for Diverse Cultures and Liaison Worker for the Telford
and Wrekin PCT based at Dawley Psychological Therapies. This post was
created after a report was compiled by a clinical psychologist based
on the needs of the local ethnic community.
Saroj is a qualified counsellor with a Diploma from
the Birmingham University and works in an integrative way using many
schools of thoughts according to the needs of the client. She specializes
in working with people from diverse cultures and can offer counselling
in Panjabi, Urdu and English.

Saroj runs the Sahara (Sahara means support in Panjabi
and Urdu) Group for women, based on building psychological resilience
in vulnerable women, the ‘something more’ programme, adapted
for Asian women.
Saroj’s role as a Liaison Worker is to raise
awareness with the Black Minority Ethnic Communities about choices in
counselling now being offered for speaker of other languages. She can
see clients at their surgery, at Dawley or initially at home.
