Annual
Report 03-04 – Psychology within ‘Rehabilitation and Recovery’,
Assertive Outreach Services and Stoke Heath YOI, Prison In-Reach
Adult Mental Health
Rehabilitation and Recovery
In this last year, Rachel Lucas, Consultant Clinical Psychologist continued
to offer therapeutic input, clinical supervision and consultation within
Wroxeter Ward, Beech Ward, Elms House and West Bank and involvement
in the ‘Beech Project’ assessment and analysis of needs
for current Rehabilitation service-users across all areas of the Rehabilitation
Service.
Dr Isabel Goodwin, Clinical Psychologist, continued her fixed-term,
part-time contract which ended in January. She successfully organised
the Beech Ward Away Days and planned and gathered data for a 12 month
evaluation of Service-users experiences of Elms House, which followed
on from the evaluation made 12 months earlier. This has subsequently
been analysed and the findings shared with Elms House staff and service-users
in a half day workshop.
Assertive Outreach
Lisa Bird, Clinical Psychologist, has continued to consolidate her limited
(0.2wte) input to Shrewsbury AOT. This has included offering both group
and individual therapeutic input and clinical supervision. It is disappointing
that further resources have not been made available to increase this
service and opportunities to increase psychology provision within Assertive
Outreach would be welcomed.
Stoke Heath YOI,
Prison In-reach
In the last year there has been the appointment of Dr Carolyn McQueen,
Clinical Psychologist, within the newly developing Prison In-reach Service
to Stoke Heath YOI. She is working to establish psychology input and
further psychological understanding, within the challenging setting
of the Prison. In the next year, this post is to be further consolidated
by a further 0.5wte Clinical Psychologist
