of the Department
Aim:
The Department of Psychological Therapies aims to provide excellence
in psychological
therapy, supervision, training,
research and consultancy.
It will provide
a nationally recognized service in psychological therapies and related
activities in line with the following principles:
1. The
provision of an accessible and equitable service free at the point of
delivery where clients have an active choice in the type and duration
of the psychological therapy in which they participate.
2. A commitment to the highest quality evidence-based service
provided by qualified and supervised staff who are themselves committed
to professional development.
3. A commitment to the
training and development of its staff.
4. A commitment to research,
education, outcome measurement and audit.
5. A commitment to management structures which make decision
making as democratic and
transparent as possible.
6. A multi-theoretical and multidisciplinary approach to people's
difficulties.
7. A support for advocacy
and user involvement as evidenced by a developing programme of user
consultation in areas such as service quality and the appointment of
staff.
8. The promotion of anti-oppressive practice where issues of
power, gender, race and sexuality are taken into consideration in therapy
and management.
9. Monitoring, audit and evaluation of the impact of the service.
10. Informed consent for all people referred to the service.
11. Integration of the service into all aspects of mental health
provision in Shropshire.
12. A commitment to multi-agency, multidisciplinary working.
Overall strategic
development of psychological therapies will be pursued with particular
reference to the NHS
