I work as a
Clinical Psychologist, in a Community Mental Health Team, which is based
in Bridgnorth.I work part-time and share this Psychology post and an
office with Penny Priest.
Together we provide a Clinical Psychology Service to adults (aged 16
to 65) who live in S.E Shropshire.
I studied Psychology
(BSc) at Exeter University from 1982 until 1985. I qualified as a Clinical
Psychologist (M. Clin. Psychol) from the Liverpool Course in 1987. I
then worked in Solihull in the West Midlands within an Adult Mental
Health Service. During my time there I developed an interest in Psychodynamic
Psychotherapy and completed an MSc. in Psychotherapy in 1992. I have
continued to draw on Psychodynamic Models to help inform my therapeutic
work; my supervision and my ways of thinking about the teams and organizations
I work within.
I came to live
and work in Shropshire in 1995. This has felt like a homecoming for
me, as I was born and brought up on a farm in Herefordshire. Issues
around living and working in rural Shropshire are close to my heart.
I have a strong
interest in Clinical Supervision. I coordinate
the Supervisor's Forum in the Department of Psychological Therapies.
I receive fortnightly Clinical Supervision from Joe Kiff, a Consultant
Clinical Psychologist from Dudley.
I was a member
of the core planning group for the Trauma Response Team. This was an
exciting project which helped me develop my work with staff groups dealing
with traumatic events at work. Survival from trauma is often a focus
of my work within the Community Mental Health Team.
When I'm not
at work I try to keep up with two young sons! I sing in a world music
choir and hope some day to sing my way across the Republic of Georgia!
