Clinical Psychologist
(Adult Mental Health Psychosocial Rehabilitation)
I work with people who have
experienced complex mental health problems which have often had an impact
on most areas of their lives, which includes the (all too often detrimental)
effects of long term involvement with mental health services. I have
been working in Shropshire for over 3 years.
I am based in Wroxeter Ward
which is a 'high dependency/ low secure' rehabilitation unit and I also
work within one hospital and two community based rehabilitation wards.
I also liaise with the newly
formed Assertive Outreach Teams in Shropshire and have an interest in
local plans for developing Early Intervention (for those experiencing
psychosis) Services.
Previously I worked for 7
years within Rehabilitation Services in Suffolk. I trained in Clinical
Psychology at Exeter University, qualifying in 1992. I am particularly
interested in the Recovery Model and the way it can encourage service
users to regain control of 'the reins of their life' and challenge mental
health workers to rethink their understanding of mental health problems.
I am also interested in supervision and support for mental health workers
and I am currently researching in this area.
