I work using a person-centred approach where the
client is seen as the expert and the counsellor is used as a source
of reflection and encouragement in a non-directive way. I see that the
core conditions of empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard,
release the client from their psychological conditions which may inhibit
their growth and self-fulfilment. I sometimes incorporate the expressive
therapies into my practice as a way of allowing the client to find release
and to express themselves when words are difficult.
My training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy has
given me insight into the benefits of a more directive and structured
form of therapy which some clients may like to work with.
I love my work as a therapist and feel passionate
about counselling, which should be available to anyone who would want
to experience the benefits of therapy.
