I was counsellor
at Plas Ffynnon Surgery, Oswestry for four years until August 2003 but
now I’ve moved to Telford, spending Mondays at Sutton Hill and
Tuesdays at Charlton Medical Centre (Oakengates).
I’ve been a counsellor
since 1984 (I trained then as a couples counsellor with Relate), and
a supervisor of other counsellors since 1994. I’m an accredited
member of the BACP, and when I’ve completed the requirements for
my Psychodrama Diploma (I’ve completed all the practical training
and examination) I will apply for registration with the UKCP as a Psychodrama
psychotherapist. Over the years I’ve had quite a range of training
and attended workshops in other approaches and emphases, including Transactional
Analysis, NLP, Solution-Focussed Therapy, Post Traumatic Stress and
Sexual Problems.
In addition to my work at
the GPs’ surgeries, I also work for the department on Thursdays
as a Couples Counsellor at the Dawley
Centre, Telford, offer supervision to other members of the Department
and facilitate a Psychodrama
group at Dawley.
Outside the department, I
supervise several groups of counsellors for other organisations, and
I have a private practice based in Ironbridge. In all my therapeutic
work, I see unique individuals: sometimes on their own, sometimes as
couples, sometimes in groups but the common thread in my work is a belief
in each person’s own expertise on himself or herself, and a respect
for the differences which often lie at the heart of the problems we
work on.
