FAQ

About Psychotherapy & Counselling

What is the difference between psychotherapy and counselling?
There is no difference. It used to be the case that psychotherapy was considered
a more intense relationship where the psychotherapist had to be medically qualified.
Counselling was considered something fairly straightforward which most people could do.
There are now so many different varieties of psychotherapy and counselling that it is no
longer possible to say clearly what the difference is. Psychological therapy is a term
that covers psychotherapy and counselling.
