COGNITIVE ANALYTIC THERAPY

Cognitive Analytic Therapy is in its infancy in Shropshire. It is a therapy which has been developed by Dr Anthony Ryle, based at Guy's Hospital, London, over the last 20 years or so for use in the NHS. C.A.T. integrates theoretical ideas from Cognitive Therapy and Psychoanalysis and is time-limited, usually 16-24 sessions.

At present I am the only qualified Cognitive Analytic Therapist in the Trust and as such cannot accept direct referrals! I am however hoping to expand the availability of CAT within the Trust and am in the process of running a 2 year Practitioner Training in CAT for 6 trainees, some of whom work within the Trust. Those who are successful with the training will be qualified to practice CAT within their care professions.
